Classical Western Astrology – An Interview with Chris Brennan

Chris Brennan, the author of the monumentally important book, Hellenistic Astrology, answers my questions about the origins of astrology in the West, its transmission and integration into the astrological cultures of the East, its philosophies, techniques, and key figures. We discuss the Western Dasha Systems and Aṁśa charts, the figures Claudius Ptolemy and Vettius Valens, the classical and ancients conceptions of Predetermined Fatalism vs. Freewill, and the contributions of Mesopotamian and Egyptian astrology. We also touch on the extensive similarity between Indian and Hellenistic astrological techniques, and the theories of Hellenistic influence on Indian astrology.
