The Future of America and the Globe

A very pious Indian gentleman donated to me and requested I write an astrology article by which the general population of the world might benefit. Please bless this man with you heartfelt good will as you read this article. I considered what article to write and decided that the global economy, currently based largely on the condition of America, is very important to the immediate practical wellbeing of the general population.

America’s Horoscope

We know that America was founded on the fourth of July in 1776, in the city of Philadelphia, PA. We don’t know the exact birth time, but an astrologer named James Kelleher did good work narrowing it down to the late afternoon around 6 – 6:30pm. I personally use 5:57pm for my calculation.

As you may already know, I use the sidereal zodiac, Lahiri Ayanamsa. And the nakshatra-year for calculating planetary cycles (359 modern “days”).

Quick Overview

Sagittarius Rises, showing ambitious expansion – particularly since the navamsha of Aries is rising in Sagittarius. This is within the nakshatra of Moola, in Gandanta – showing that the country plays a crucial, pivotal role in world history.

Saturn is in the 10th house with phenomenal true dignity (16 out of 20) – showing that the country rises from grass roots / common men / democracy to become extremely powerful in the world. The exalted Sun in Navamsha aries rising also shows this.

Four planets in the seventh house show that the nation has unbalanced exchanges and trade with the rest of the world, although not outright malicious its good intentions (Venus and Jupiter) are flanked on either side by malefic and military forces (Mars and Sun) – showing that ultimately despite wanting to appear as helpful for other nations, America is self-motivated (which is not condemnable for a nation, after all) and resorts to military power to get what it wants “in the best interest of the world.” Ketu in the second shows that diplomatic skills are poor. Moon in the third shows ambition is the key trademark of the nature – and that it is a nation of sense gratification – especially since Rahu is in the 8th house, which belongs to the Moon.

Events

To better understand the future for america lets look briefly at a few past events. I am particularly interested in the economic situation of America (When I moved to Japan I could get almost 100 yen for a dollar, today, just a year and a half later, I can only get 80!) so I will look at events of financial importance.

Brief Financial History of America

From 1865-1900 is called “The Gilded Age” – in which America made itself into a solid world-class economic power.

The 1920s, the “Roaring Twenties” was an economic bubble of extreme growth which burst with the stock market crash in October of 1929. This occurred on “Black Tuesday” (October 29, 1929).

The Great Depression ensued from 1929-1941. Generally the winter of 1932 is considered the lowest point of the depression.

World War Two ended this era, 1941-1945, followed by economic prosperity until 1973. A severe recession occured in July of 1981 until November of 1982.

This was followed by a recovery with questionable inner stability. During 2001-2007 a tremendous boom in the housing market existed, but in 2008 everything went wrong and the United States began another plunge into recession.

Guilded Age

This began during the Venus cycle in the 120 system (vimshottari) and the Venus cycle of the kottara sama dasha system (another cycle system that is applicable to the specific chart of the United States). With these two Venus cycles starting in concert, the United States began her first era of very significant prosperity. (Venus is the lord of the house of profit [11] and occupies the house of trade [7] in a wealth alignment (dhana-yoga) with Jupiter).

Great Depression

The great depression ended this prosperity in October of 1929. This occurred when the United States went in the Saturn cycle (vimshottari), and exactly when the Saturn cycle in the kottara sama dasha cycle started (it started exactly on October 18, 1929). Thus when the great benefic Venus had her cycles coinciding in both timing systems, prosperity began. Yet when the great malefic Saturn had its cycles coinciding in both timing systems, prosperity ended. (Saturn owns the house of wealth with the sudden malefic Ketu as an occupant. It also owns the house of ambition with the lord of confusion as an occupant).

One should note that this coincidence of both Saturn cycles began in tandem with Saturn being exactly in transit of the cusp of the first house.

1980′s Recession

The next period of financial instability occured when the USA was in her Venus era (Vimshottari) and entered the Rahu era of the Kottari Sama system. This occurred when Venus also combined with Rahu in the Vimshottari system itself, for it was the Rahu cycle within the Venus era.

Around mid-May of 1977 was an particularly grave karmic/astrological catalyst because Rahu was in Libra, exactly in transit of the cusp of the US house of profit. At the same time Saturn was exactly in transit of the US Rahu in Cancer, the 8th house for the USA. Jupiter at this time was in the house of debit [6] and aspecting the US’ second house Ketu – the indicator of financial instability.

We did not get a break from this crisis until the beginning of 1984, January. When Jupiter had finally entered Sagittarius and was in transit of the US’ first house cusp, while Saturn had gone into exaltation in Libra and Rahu had moved out of the way of the financial houses and into the house of debt (the US “dug itself out of the recession by “Reganomics” which really just shifted everything by smoke, mirrors and slight of hand into the national debt – Rahu in the house of debt.)

This relief also coincided with the US getting out of Rahu’s cycle in the Kottara Sama system.

Modern Crash

The modern financial crash began when the United States just entered the Venus era in Kottara Sama system. It now seems apparent that Venus is extremely important in timing major financial events for the US. This is natural since she owns the US’ house of debt [6] and the house of profit [11] and occupies the house of trade [7] in a combination with Jupiter that causes both a wealth alignment (dhana-yoga – 11th lord combining with the first lord) and a poverty alignment (dainya-yoga – 6th lord combining with the first).

In Vimshottari the US was in the Saturn cycle of her Mars era. We have the coincidence here of Mars as the Vimshottari era lord and Venus as the Kottara Sama era lord. Venus is the lord of profit [11th house] and Mars the lord of loss/expense [12th house] – conversely Venus is the lord of debt [6] and Mars the lord of speculation and gamble [5]. Thus when the two cycles aligned the US experienced loss of profit due to the debt incurred by excessive financial speculation and risk-taking.

Thus occurred when Rahu was in Aquarius, thus transiting the US house of speculation and risk taking, and Jupiter (lagnesh) was in Scorpio, the US house of loss. Saturn was in Leo on the very cusp of the US house of fortune.

The Future

One thought is that the situation will not improve till these is a major change in one of the cycle systems. This would occur first in May of 2013 when the Kottara Sama system will switch out of the Venus era and into the Rahu era.

Similarly we have, in February of 2012 (on Valentine’s day, curiously), the Vimshottari cycle switching from Mars to… Rahu.

This means that between May 2013 through March 2022 the United States will be in the Rahu cycle in both her Vimshottari and Kottara Sama rhythms. This does not sound good to me.

When this begins, in May of 2013, Rahu will be with exalted Saturn in Libra – the US’ house of profit. Considering the movements of Saturn, and all things I can see, I am prepared to give some practical advice.

My Practical Advice to People of the World w/ Economic Concerns

The United States will not recover from this economic crisis. Period.

There will not even be a period of substantial stabilization in the US economy until 2013. Between now and then there will only be a steady decline in the US economy.

My advice therefore is to withdraw all your assets from the US market and the US dollar and transfer them elsewhere. While your US money is still worth something, get it into a real form and perhaps invest it elsewhere, somewhere not too directly impacted by US and Western economics. If you live in the US, do so wisely, be prudent, and prepare intelligently for a “long winter” lasting at least till after the so-called “2012″ date.

Election of Barack Obama

Barack Obama, August 4, 1961 at 19:24 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Vimshottari dasha eras and cycles calculated using the correct nakshatra year length of 359.017 days.

Barack Obama was elected the 44^th president of the United States of America on the 4^th of November 2008.

At the time, he was in his Jupiter era. Let us take a moment or two to look at Jupiter in his chart. As you can see, Jupiter is debilitated in his first house. This underscores the fundamental principle that debilitated planets are not “weak.” This man became the President of the United States during the Era of a planet who is debilitated in the first house of his chart!

You may notice that Saturn is the phenomenally powerful planet in this chart. Its true dignity is as high as 19 out of 20, that is almost as exalted a dignity as possible for a planet to attain. Its strength is also excessive, being at 162% of normal. This unusually strong and extremely beneficial Saturn sits in the first house of Obama’s chart in a very profound raja-yoga (Power and Fame Combination) with Mercury. This particular alignment is so profound because (a) it is formed by a very exact mutual aspect between Saturn and Mercury, (b) it also forms a raja-yoga when the chart is reckoned from the viewpoint of the Moon, and (c) it is a raja-yoga formed by very powerful houses – the first and ninth – and focusing on the lord of the first house in the first house.

Jupiter associates with this magnificent Saturn in the first house and thus benefits greatly from the opulence and power Saturn possesses. It is a general principle in many classical texts that planets who are conjoined with or aspected by powerful and good planets give the powerful and good results of those planets during their eras much more so than do the powerful planets themselves. Thus one can expect Obama’s Jupiter era to be very powerful, while the Saturn era may very likely be relatively ordinary by comparison.

It was therefore in his Jupiter era that Obama became a major leader of an extremely significant nation.

Barack Obama was elected president during the Mars cycle of his Jupiter era. Mars is the next more beneficially inclined planet in Obama’s chart, according to the classical method of interpreting true dignity, the “Vimshopaka” system. The combination of Mars with Jupiter in this era of his life allowed Barack Obama the ambition, willpower, determination, and fighting spirit required to win a presidential election.

The election occurred during the Saturn subcycle of the Mars cycle of Obama’s Jupiter era. This ensured that Obama’s magnificently powerful Saturn could exert full influence on the outcome.

November 4^th, 2008 had Saturn positioned at 25º of Leo. This is exactly the degree of Obama’s ascendent and therefore exactly the cusp of the eighth house. Jupiter was positioned at 23º of Sagittarius, which is very nearly the exact cusp of the houses as well. Mars too was at 27º of Libra, again nearly the exact cusp.

Thus the lord of the era, cycle and subcycle – all three - were within 2º of the most sensitive and receptive degrees in Obama’s chart. This means (a) that they could each independently exert tremendous influence on the houses they occupy and aspect, and (b) that they would be aspecting one another.

Saturn, the main source of outstanding karmic power for Mr. Obama, was powerfully aspecting the cusp of the 10^th house, which is his exaltation sign, Libra. In so doing he was also aspecting Mars who was situated within just 2º of that cusp. Saturn was also forming a mild trine with Jupiter, which means that Jupiter was powerfully aspecting Saturn, since Jupiter has a 100% effective aspect to his trines. So all three of the timeline lords were working very closely together on this day.

Saturn’s aspect to Mars on the 10^th House cusp is the main thing indicating victory and election to the highest post.

The next most important factor indicating successful election as the president of the United States is that the lord of the 10^th House, Venus is exactly on the cusp of Obama’s eleventh house, Scorpio. Meanwhile the lord of the eleventh house is exactly on the cusp of Obama’s tenth house, Libra. This means that there is a house exchange between the house of gains and the house of career – a house exchange in which both lords are exactly on the cusps of their respective houses. It could not be a more powerful combination between career and gains. Therefore on this day Obama secured an extreme gain to his political career.

The USA, WikiLeaks and the Future

I am a personal astrologer, I specialize in reading charts for people. But every now and then something very interesting about an event or about the politics of a nation comes to my attention. This is one such case. I will make some quick passing comments about the USA and recent events, particularly the “WikiLeaks Scandal” which exposed the nefariousness of government secrets. I will maybe even offer some quick suggestions about the likely near future of the United States of America based on what I see in the passing course of briefly writing this blog post.

The Power and Wealth of the USA

First, lets say that America was “born” at 17:57 on July 4th of 1776, in Philadelphia – because this is the time and place when America officially declared her existence as a separate nation.

This creates, in the natural sidereal zodiac with natural whole-sign houses, a “birth chart” for the USA where the expansive and moralistic Sagittarius rises under a very direct and strong aspect from the independent, maverick, ambitious, and military planet: Mars.

A whole plethora of special alignments for political power form in this chart. These alignments are “Power Combinations”, a.k.a. raja-yogas - resulting from a mutual link occuring between lords of trines and angles (aka. “konas and kendras”).

1. 1/4L Jupiter + 9L Sun
2. 1/4L Jupiter + 5L Mars

Then rotate the chart to the Moon’s perspective (an imperative practice when assessing alignments), and note that the above combinations are particularly powerful ones because they recur from the Moon’s vantage point.

• The Sun is lord of the moon’s seventh house and Venus is lord of the moon’s ninth house. Their conjunction thus forms a Power Combination.
• Mars is lord of the Moon’s tenth house, so his conjunction with Venus (9L) forms yet another Power Combination
• Venus is herself a One-Planet Power Combination in this context because she is a single planet who owns both an angle and a trine. Her participation on Power Combinations therefore amplifies their potency.

These are the obvious links formed by conjunction. You must also look for links formed by mutual exchange among signs and nakshatras (which is not present in the USA chart), and those formed by mutual aspect.

Aspects have been completely oversimplified and destroyed by “Vedic astrologers” who have not even comprehended their most fundamental book on the topic: the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra. Using a genuine Vedic aspect system (which is beyond scope to define here, unfortunately) each one of the four planets in stellium in the seventh house of this chart is in mutual aspect with Saturn in the tenth house of the chart (who is a significant source of political power all on his own, having a very high True Dignity – vimshopaka scores it as 15 – and a very high Sixfold Strength – shadbala scores it at 175%).

• Mars and Saturn link via mutual aspect with 60% efficiency
• Venus and Saturn link with 65-80% efficiency
• Jupiter and Saturn link with 85% efficiency
• Sun and Saturn link with 75-100% efficiency

From the vantage of the Ascendant these mutual aspects indicate a very wealthy country because the combination of the lords of the houses of wealth (2 and 11) with the lords of trines form Wealth Combinations (dhana yoga). Saturn and Venus own the two wealth houses for the United States, while Jupiter, Mars and the Sun own all three trine houses. Thus the United States of America has every possible wealth combination in the links formed between the Saturn and the four planets in the seventh house!

From the vantage point of the Moon these same mutual aspects form Power Combinations and Wealth Combinations, intensifying the potency held by these mutual aspects to create the most powerful and wealthy country in modern times at least.

WikiLeaks and Current Events

America has been going through rough times for the past few years – particularly as the nodes, Rahu and Ketu, have transited through an “opposite nodal return” and then into the first house / seventh house axis – during which time the draining, sudden and secret Ketu transits each of the four planets in the seventh house of the USA “birth” chart.

The USA is currently in the Mars era of her 120-year planetary cycles. Mars involves himself in Power and Wealth combinations in the US chart, as I illustrated above. But also the combination formed in the mutual aspect between Mars and Saturn creates poverty, recession and depression because Mars owns the house of financial loss and Saturn owns the house of financial gain. Saturn has greater Sixfold Strength than Mars, so the United States is not a poor country. But the fantastic wealth of this nation is punctuated by troubling periods of significant depressions, recessions and downturns whenever Mars and Saturn transit or cycle in ways which give Mars the upper hand on Saturn.

For example, during the beginning of Mars era (mid 2005 – mid 2007) the country enjoyed a huge boom of prosperity especially connected to real estate speculations (Mars, owner of the speculative house [5] and planet of real estate). But when the Saturn cycle within the Mars era began in mid 2007 there was a drastic, dramatic crash and all sorts of financial hell broke lose.

The presence of “natal” Ketu in the US’ house of wealth encourages whatever downturns occur in US economy to be particularly dramatic, sudden, and severe.

It is also instructive to note that real estate speculations was the main precipitator of the current financial crash – and that Mars / Saturn combinations (in whose Era/Cycle the collapse began) are well known classical indicators of real-estate in every school of astrology.

Currently the USA is just towards the end of the Ketu cycle of her Mars era. Ketu is the planet of secrets and hidden things. Ketu / Mars combinations are well known, well documented causes of sudden calamity. An unprecedented number of classified government secrets of a most repulsive sort were suddenly exposed to the global public by a website and agency called WikiLeaks. This occured exactly as Ketu applied her transit to the US’ Jupiter – ruler of the first house of the US chart and Mars applied his 100% aspect to the US Ascendant itself!

Ketu is a planet I personally admire deeply. I love how the US government and associated outlets react by saying, “How can Wikileaks expose so many national secrets!!! That is treason!!!” This is very indicative of the Sun (governments) reaction to Ketu – and currently the Sun transits Ketu’s counterpart Rahu in the US chart.

Allow me to give voice to the thoughts Ketu itself holds. It asks the Sun, “You blame me for revealing such horrible secrets!? But who blames you for keeping such horrible secrets!?“

Indeed that is Ketus role, and Ketu often fulfills its role flawlessly.

The Future

Real predictions as would be made by great astrologers of old would require a lot more time than I am able to give (I am already way beyond what I expected to give to this post!), and probably a lot more expertise than I currently have. But I will offer you a few quick thoughts of mine. Take them with a grain of salt.

Relatively soon, Rahu will begin his long 18 year era. Coincidentally this happens at the end of 2011, right around the popular “2012″ date. I think we will need to wait for that time to start to see any real end to the prolonged and protracted wars that the Mars era involved us in. We may have to wait until Venus has a significant turn in the Rahu era. Perhaps when Jupiter transits the US Venus during that era – which could be in the Summer of 2013.

The Rahu era is going to reinvent the United States.

Reinvention is an exciting process but one of many mistakes and regrets. The positions the US takes at the beginning of the Rahu era she will adopt the polar opposite of by the end of the era, around 2029. And it is only in the following Jupiter era – the 16 years after 2029 – that the reinvented USA will be able to regain significant footing and once again become stable and positive in a significant and overall manner.

In the near term… I expect major bumps in the road to occur each time Ketu transits a seventh house planet. And I expect also that when Saturn enters the first degree of sidereal Libra in August of 2012 America will make move to try to assert her power and dominance in the world in a heavy handed and aggressive way.
