Your Best Color

Someone Asked:

Should you wear a specific color based on your Sun sign?

I answered:

First we have to iron out the relative importance of Sun / Moon / Rising signs. I know it’s not convenient, but the rising sign is much more important than the Moon sign, and the Moon sign is much more important than the Sun sign. Though all three are important focal points for reading a chart. So give more importance to your Rising Sign, second importance to your Moon sign, third to your Sun… please.

When determining colors… YES most definitely there is a correlation between the best color and the sign.

Every sign is ruled by a planet. Every planet has a color which it vibrates at.

  • Mars (Aries and Scorpio) bright red
  • Venus (Taurus and Libra) rainbows and clear crystal colors
  • Mercury (Gemini and Virgo) green
  • Moon (Cancer) white
  • Sun (Leo) dark red
  • Jupiter (Sagittarius and Pisces) saffron-yellow
  • Saturn (Capricorn and Aquarius) very dark blue-purple

One thing that works is to wear the color of the planet who rules your rising sign (please do this according to your *sidereal* rising sign). Another thing that works quite well, perhaps even better, is to wear the color of the planet in whose sign the ruler of your rising sign would be exalted.

For example, if you are Aries or Scorpio you would favor the color black/dark-blue/purple because Mars (who owns your rising sign) gets exalted in Capricorn (whose ruler is Saturn) whose color is very dark blues and purples, near black.

Glory of Mercury: Math and Astrology?

Mercury!

Someone asked: Are people who love astrology usually good at math too? Why?

My Answer:

Not popular astrology, no. People who are “Like, into astrology and stuff!” are not going to also be good at math. But ASTROLOGERS will usually have a love for math. They may not be “good” at math, but they will usually at least love Math and enjoy it’s theories and interpretations.

Astrology is the special talent of planet Mercury. This is well known from all ancient texts and even most modern paperbacks. Mercury is the planet of intellect. The intellect communicates. That is it’s primary function: It takes in information from the external world and internalizes or “understands” it. And it takes information from the internal world and gives it to the external world so that people there can “understand” us. So intellect and communication are inseparable, and this is why they are both Mercury’s power.

Communication happens by the use of *symbols* – words are symbols, pictographs and glyphs are symbols, sounds are symbols, NUMBERS are also symbols. Mathematics is simply another *language* for expressing and communicating descriptions of reality. Therefore Mercury simultaneously is the god-planet of both language and mathematics – math is simply one of the languages mercury speaks.

Because an astrologer has to be blessed by Mercury to be any good (because the complexity of astrological science requires fantastic intellect), therefore such people are quite likely to also be blessed in, or at least appreciative of, many of Mercury’s other powers: including communication, linguistics, psychology, and MATH.

P.S. Before computers, we used to have to do A WHOLE LOT of math just to *make* a chart. I used to draw charts by pencil and paper. It would take me almost 2 hours with a small shelf full of reference books just to do all the math to draw a birth chart and a handful of harmonic divisions and some basic planetary cycles for it. That’s 2 hours of work *before* you even *start* interpreting! Yay computers, but then again when you spend 2 hours calculating all those positions, you really *love* and intimately know each person, and interpretation is easier and better. These days I usually compensate by copying down the charts from the computer by pencil or something similar. It’s good to get more familiar with a chart you are reading.

Survey – Please Fill Out

For anyone who fills out this survey nicely (by commenting on this post) and including their birth date/time/place I’ll send you a description of your Vedic Moon Star (the lunar mansion of your Moon in eastern astrology) as a “thank you.”

For 2010 I am revamping the structure and format of the written readings I do for people, and I would like your help and input in deciding exactly what that improved format will be!

The question is: If you were getting a reading from you about ___X___, what specific topics/questions would want me to address?

The possibilities for “___X___” are:

  • Marriage & Relationships
  • Financial Prosperity
  • Career & Life-Path
  • Emotional Health
  • Fertility
  • Raising Children
  • Spiritual Growth

Please pick the ones from the above list that you would actually be interested in having a reading on, and tell me the specific topics and questions you would want me to address in that reading. Thanks!!!

If you want to suggest some other topics, or anything else, this is a great place and time to do so!

P.S. In case it’s not clear, here is an example of a nice answer:

I would be interested in a reading on Spiritual Growth. The questions and topics I would want to know about would be… when will i have times in my life where it will be easier to be more “spiritual”?… what sort of spiritual path am i most cut out for? what is the biggest challenge to my spiritual progress, which i should pay the most attention to? what are the best types of spiritual practices for me?

Research on Twins

Gemini

Dear Fellow Astrologers,

(And other avid astrology hobbyists). I’d like to make this post a “thread” to discuss findings on the astrology of twins. If you are reading this in facebook or in some other place besides my actual blog, please try to put your MUCH WANTED comments on the original post (here) so that they are all in one place and don’t get overlooked.

I’m going to start the thread with the following observation – and I would like to ask you to see if you can verify / modify it based on the charts of twins that you have in your possession. Please specify if the charts you are referring to are sidereal or tropical, and specify the house system they use. (For your reference I always use sidereal zodiac and whole-sign houses, unless otherwise specified).

To start… I have two charts of twins.. in both…

  • The 3rd House ruler (representing siblings) is in an oscillating (“dual”) sign
  • Mars (representing siblings) is in an oscillating (“dual”) sign
  • In the D-3 (drekkan, or 3rd harmonic chart, representing siblings) the ascendant is an oscillating sign.
  • The ruler of the 3rd House from the Moon is in an oscillating sign.

If you have charts of twins please if appropriate post the birth data with names removed and give your comments on relevant features. If you ARE a twin, please comment with your birth date, time and location!

THANKS!
